Architecture competition for the energy requalification with elevation of the buildings in Palermo Street in Bolzano

Music is the soul of geometry. (Paul Claudel, Diary, 1904-1955) The urban context in which the buildings in the competition are located is characterised by inhomogeneity, many different identities that create an environment in which chaos and disorder dominate: an exemplary case that shows how our cities are a sum of all the eras and all the architectural styles that have followed until now. At the same time, it is precisely this fragmentary nature, combined with the particular needs of the building site, that gives rise to the concept behind this project: working with architectural elements, as if they were “archetypes”, means identifying architecture, restoring dignity and strength to those very elements that make it up. Since we cannot detach ourselves from the context, since we cannot deny the past, we aspire to make the new architecture proposed within the neighbourhood “organic”, combining tradition (whether past or contemporary) and innovation. And just as the musical notes singularly say nothing or almost nothing, but together and structured on a pentagram compose symphony and harmony, so also the different languages together with the different architectural elements organized on a grid and “rationalized” generate architecture (HARMONIC COMBINATION).
